A researcher, contributes to the project’s topic from the perspectives of the modern political and social history of the post-Yugoslav region.
Nikola Zečević is a research assistant at the Institute for Advanced Studies, University of Montenegro. He furthered his education at the University of Montenegro, Faculty of Political Sciences, where he pursued and completed a Masters degree in International Relations and Diplomacy.
His academic pursuits took an international turn when he was awarded by the UK Government with the prestigious Chevening Scholarship. This opportunity led him to the University of Kent in Canterbury, England, where he earned a Master’s degree in Modern History. Continuing his scholarly trajectory, he is currently engaged in PhD studies in Eastern and South Eastern European History at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.
His academic career includes a significant tenure from 2013 to 2021 as a teaching fellow at the Faculty of Humanities, University of Donja Gorica. During this period, he imparted knowledge in a variety of courses: History of Balkan Relations, History of Diplomacy, History of Europe, Introduction to Geopolitics, Academic Writing and Rhetoric, and Political Marketing.
In recognition of his scholarly contributions, in 2016, Zečević was honoured with the award for the Best Young Scientist in the field of humanities by the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts.
His research journey further expanded through various international scholarships. In 2017, he was a visiting researcher at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb, under the aegis of the Croatian Ministry of Science. The following year, as a Visegrad Scholarship Fund recipient, he conducted research at Charles University in Prague, specifically within the Department of South Slavic and Balkan Studies. In the summer of 2021, he furthered his research at the University of Viennas Institute for the History of Eastern Europe, as an OeAD scholar (supported by the Austrian Government). March 2022 saw him enriching academic discourse as a guest lecturer at the Catholic Private University (KU) in Linz.
Between September 2018 and September 2019, Zečević contributed his expertise as a project coordinator and public policy researcher at the Center for Monitoring and Research (CeMI). From October 2021 to May 2022, he served as an advisor to the Prime Minister of Montenegro.
Zečević is also a prolific writer, contributing authored articles and columns to a range of esteemed newspapers, magazines, and blogs, including Vijesti, Peščanik, The National Interest, and Novi magazin.
